2nd Barnet Scouts

Announcements
About the Scout Section
At 2nd Barnet, we currently only run a Scout section, which is for 10 ½ - 14 year olds and we run every Friday during term time from 19:30 - 21:00, with the occasional extended evening and some weekend events.

We run Scouts for an amazing group of roughly 25 members every week and currently have a waiting list for new members to join us. Please check out the 'Join' page if you are interested in joining the waiting list.
Patrols
Scout sections are generally organised into small groups called 'patrols' with a Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader. They normally operate in their patrols during Troop meetings and earn patrol points for various tasks and challenges. The patrol that has the most patrol points at the end of the term gets awarded our special patrol points trophy which gets hung above their patrol corner for the whole of the next term, and all members of the patrol also get awarded a certificate.
At 2nd Barnet we currently operate with 4 patrols which are:
Eagles
Wolves

Otters

Panthers

What do we actually get up to?...
A great question with lots of answers!

We love playing games - one of the Scouts' favourites is The Stave Game and one of the Leaders' favourite is definitely Circular Tug of War!

Some activities that we've done in our meetings include a wacky Taskmaster evening, orienteering around Trent Park, learning First Aid, tin can pancakes, a ghost walk, crisp tasting, plasticine Pictionary, cooking over open fires and so much more!

We also try and have a camp every term. In the Autumn term, we attend the Halloween Scarefest camp run at Gilwell Park, and in the Summer term we try and run a Troop Camp every year!

Sometimes we also run weekend activities such as the District Night Activity, when we run around in the dark with other Scout Troops from around Barnet trying to complete as many tasks as possible. We also try and go swimming at Mill Hill Swimming Pool at least twice a year and recently we attended a Kayaking Pool Session run by Phoenix Canoe Club and the Scouts loved this!
If you have any other questions about our Scout section, we would be more than happy to answer them. Please get in contact using the contact us form!
