About Us

We Scout - but why should you?

As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more.

Each week, we give young people the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed, now and in the future. We’re talking about teamwork, leadership and resilience – skills that have helped Scouts become everything from teachers and social workers to astronauts and Olympians.

We believe in bringing people together. We celebrate diversity and stand against intolerance, always. We’re a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures.

Joining Us

Ready for your next adventure?

We always welcome new members no matter their background, many join us from a friend's recommendation or just on their own, no matter what, we're always happy to welcome new members.

We are currently operating a waiting list for our Scout section, you can find more information about this on our dedicated 'Join' page, where you can also find the link to our waiting list joining form.

At 2nd Barnet

2nd Barnet has been running for over 100 years, providing young people and leaders with amazing experiences for just over a century.

We currently only run a Scout section which is for 10 ½ - 14 year olds and we run every Friday during term time from 19:30 - 21:00, with the occasional extended evening and some weekend events.

Scouts are a go-getting group of young people  who:

  • Master new skills and try new things

  • Make new friends

  • Have fun and go on adventures, at home and abroad

  • Explore the world around them

  • Help others and make a difference, in their own communities and beyond

Become a Leader!

Scouting wouldn't exist without the amazing leaders that volunteer their time to plan and run programmes, organise camps and events and attend weekly meetings. Even if you can only give up a few evenings a term, we would still be grateful of any help!

People from the age of 14 can become leaders with us in some capacity, if you are interested, please get in touch

Scouting as a Whole

At 2nd Barnet we are part of a huge community of Scouts across the world, as well as some smaller communities called Districts and Counties.

District: Barnet Borough District Scouts

County: Greater London North Scouts

Headquarters: Scouts UK

World Membership: The World Organisation of the Scout Movement

Safeguarding

All of our leaders are interviewed locally and asked to provide references. They undergo the mandatory training they need to be the best they can be, including basic first aid and child protection. Special training is provided for those taking young people away on residential events like camps and sleepovers.

Everyone who works with young people also has to undertake a disclosure check (also known as a ‘police check’).

If you have any concerns about safeguarding please get in contact using the contact us form or speak to one of the leaders.
