29/10/2020 - 11/12/2020 - Race Round the World

It’s an epic, sponsored challenge to raise money for over 500 Scout Groups hit hardest by COVID. The rules are simple: travel a mile or more (or complete an equivalent activity), get sponsored and log your miles for the Scout section. Find out who’s leading your team here and log your miles.

Let us know if you complete even one mile and we'll order you the badges to go alongside this national event. Not only will you be helping Scout groups around the country, but it's also a way to get motivated to stay healthy and active.

31/10/2020 - Virtual Scarefest

We finally have an event running in 2020!!! Even though it is a virtual event, it's definitely better than nothing! For those of you that have never attended Scarefest before, it's an annual Halloween Camp held at Gilwell Park - which is Scouting HQ! Any Scouts that have been before can tell you how fun it is, it's definitely one of our favourite camps that we've been to. This year the camp is being run virtually and you can find all the detailed information here: https://virtual.scarefest.org.uk/

The rough schedule of the day is as follows:

9am – Premiere – The Scarefest story

10am – Home activities come online

11am – Scarefest activities escape room comes online

1pm – Quizzes come online

2pm – Live stream from Gilwell Park

3pm – Scout Adventures Escape room comes online

6pm – Live stream – Ghost stories around the campfire

8pm – Live stream – Event close

In addition to all of the above, on the Scarefest website, there is a multitude of other activities that they have provided equipment lists and instructions for so it would be well worth checking those out as well! A few of the live activities will be broadcast over the Scarefest Facebook page, so the Scouts might need access to a parent's Facebook account to watch these broadcasts, the Facebook page can be found by following this link: https://www.facebook.com/scarefest. Although, the organisers have said that they are going to try and live stream over the website as well...

Finally, we are going to set the Scouts a couple of extra tasks that they could try and do over that weekend. The first is a spooky Halloween costume competition...dress up in your best Halloween costume, whether you want to do some face painting or even make your own costume? Send us some pictures of your Halloween costume and we'll pick a winner and award some certificates. The second challenge is to build your own den or camp out in a tent in your garden for the night - extra points if you make it spooky! Again, send us pictures and we'll pick a winner and award some certificates.

If you give anything a go, let us know! We love hearing about what our Scouts get up to outside of our normal meetings (and it gives us a chance to brag to other Scout Troops about why 2nd Barnet is the best!) Send us some pictures, write us an email or even post us a letter - we would love to hear from! And as always, anything that you get up to at this event will count towards some badges! :)

If you have any questions, email any of the leaders and they will be able to help you!
